    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before changing the front Brake Disc check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir; drain fluid until the amount reaches halfway between its highest and permitted limits. Lift your vehicle and then unscrew the tire and wheel from its position. Apply a large c-clamp (J 42450-A) on top of the brake housing to compress its caliper piston until the piston moves back enough for the caliper to glide off the disc. Take off the brake caliper mounting bracket by removing its mounting bolts then take the brake caliper and mounting bracket assembly away from the vehicle. Clean the Brake Disc surface using the Wheel Hub cleaning kit (J 42450) by removing its mounting clips. Also apply the kit to remove rust and debris from the disc and flange engagement area. When keeping the disc note its position to a wheel stud before disassembly from the Wheel Hub. Clean the Brake Disc contact surface of the front hub using materials from the Wheel Hub cleaning kit (J 42450-A). Put the Brake Disc on Wheel Hub first and position the relationship marks correctly. After that install the brake caliper assembly to the Steering Knuckle. Secure the brake caliper mounting bolt at 150 nm (110 ft. Lbs.) torque and attach the tire and wheel elements. Lower your vehicle while filling the brake master cylinder. Slowly pump the brake pedal firm to establish new brake pads position between the disc surface and let new pads run in.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Brake Disc using the J 41013 and J 42450-A kits on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use the j 41013 and j 42450-a tool kits to fix your Brake Disc. The brake discs must stay untouched when handling complaints involving brake noise, brake wear issues, external disc damage, and discoloration. Recondition the disc system only if its grooves fail the specs, the disc brake surface develops heavy marks, brake shaking results from modified thickness or runout positions, or when rust or pits invade the disc surface. To check the wheel bearing/hub cleanliness level use the j 42450-a device before measuring the disc's thinnest area with a micrometer; if the disc thickness meets minimum standards replace it instead of restoring the brake surface. Before beginning Brake Disc refinishing follow brake lathe instructions apply the j 41013 to thoroughly delete all rust deposits from the brake flange surface. After machining the disc turn to 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper plus non-directional disc finisher when possible to develop a non-directional braking surface for best results. Clean the brake parts surface with gm p/n 12377981 (Canadian P/N 10953463) brake parts cleaner or equivalent product.
