    Q:
How to service and repair the wheel bearing on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on wheel bearings you need to lift up the vehicle and support it while you take out the wheel and tire plus brake rotor. You need to remove the Wheel Hub and bearing along with its ABS Sensor mounting bolt and ABS Sensor. You take out the Wheel Hub and bearing from the Steering Knuckle when you detach the mounting bolts from it and take away the splash shield from around the knuckle. Attach the splash shield to the Steering Knuckle first by placing it properly over the threaded positions. Install the Wheel Hub and bearing onto the Steering Knuckle by aligning its threaded holes and tighten the mounting bolts to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). Put the Wheel Hub with ABS Sensor in place before attaching its bolt at 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Restall the brake rotor and tire-and-wheel unit before dropping the vehicle back to the ground.

    Q:
How to replace the wheel hub and speed sensor on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the Wheel Hub and speed sensor start by lifting the car and disconnect the wheel drive shaft nut if it exists. Before handling the Wheel Hub and speed sensor, you must disconnect both front brake caliper parts from the upper Control Arm and both connections of the abs sensors wiring harness. Next separate the front retaining bolt from the speed sensor bracket. To install the speed sensor bracket correctly note the connector positions on the current part before you remove it. Nest the speed sensor body connector and paint the speed sensor's wiring harness attachment point to the Steering Knuckle with white paint. Remove the wheel bearing/hub and brake rotor mounting bolts before taking out the wheel bearing/hub assembly from the knuckle with the brake rotor placed on a flat surface. Wipe clean the surface where the wheel bearing/hub connects with the brake rotor. The single mounting bolt securing these parts needs to be removed for cleaning. When needed, install a new Wheel Speed Sensor on the hub before placing the bearing hub against the rotor and securing it with 20 nm (15 lb ft) torque using a crisscross pattern. Place the backing plate over the wheel bearing hub and brake assembly as you position the wheel bearing hub into the Steering Knuckle while maintaining alignment of the Wheel Speed Sensor wiring harness with its reference point on the Steering Knuckle. Secure the wheel bearing/hub with its brake rotor by tightening the mounting bolts to 125 nm (92 lb ft), then connect the brake caliper mounting bracket. Apply force on a screwdriver across the cooling fins of the brake rotor while pushing the brake rotor securing bracket with a pry bar to tighten all the mounting bolts for 110 nm (81 lb ft) torque in serial order. Put on the wheel drive shaft nut then fasten it to 260 nm (191 lb ft). Attach the speed sensor wiring harness bracket and front bolt before locking it to 20 nm force. Hook the wiring harness retainers onto the upper Control Arm. Link the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector to the body and reposition your car.

    Q:
How to replace the front wheel bearing, hub, and seal on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take off the tire and wheel center cap to start the job. Also remove the drive axle nut before you can replace the front Wheel Hub along with its seal and bearing. Lift the vehicle and take off all parts including wheel disk brakes as well as the tire and wheel. Prevent thread damage by hitting a brass drift against the wheel drive shaft with a hammer but avoid fully removing the shaft. After taking out the sensor bolt you need to extract both the ABS Sensor and Wheel Hub from the hub bearing. Take out the Wheel Hub and bearing from the Steering Knuckle when you remove its mounting bolts and separate the components. Additionally, detach the splash shield from the Steering Knuckle. Secure the splash shield on top of the Steering Knuckle and align its threaded holes before further steps. When putting the Steering Knuckle Wheel Hub and bearing together place the threaded holes directly against each other before tightening the mounting bolts to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). Position the ABS Sensor and its bolt in place before tightening them to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). After placing the brake rotor assemble the tire and wheel before letting the vehicle down. After setting the drive axle nut tighten it to 140 nm (103 ft. Lbs.). Then put back the tire and wheel center cap.
