2007 GMC Envoy Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake disc on 2007 GMC Envoy?
A: Before replacing the front Brake Disc check if your brake fluid reaches up to midway point between maximum and minimum limits in the brake master cylinder reservoir. Drain the extra brake fluid to that level if the fluid level is above midway. Lift up the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel parts from their location. Press the Brake Caliper Piston back with a large c-clamp (J 42450-A) on top of the brake caliper housing toward the rear until the disc clears off the piston. Take off the brake caliper and its bracket unit after you remove all bolts from the caliper mounting bracket. Clean the surface between the Brake Disc and Wheel Hub flange using cleaning tools from kit j 42450-a before installing the disc to avoid brake unevenness and vibrations. When you keep the disc note its alignment to match a wheel stud before detaching it from the Wheel Hub. Prepare the front hub contact area for the new Brake Disc by cleaning it with the Wheel Hub cleaning kit part number j 42450-a. Set the new disc in a way that the wheel stud marks line up with the disc marks before placing it on the Wheel Hub. Fasten the Steering Knuckle brake caliper back into position and secure the brake caliper bolt with 150 n.m (110 lb-ft) torque. Put back the wheel and tire unit before letting the vehicle down then top up the brake master cylinder to its required level. Press the brake pedal gently and steadily while keeping pressure on it to let the new pads reach their position.
