2007 GMC Envoy Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on 2007 GMC Envoy?
A: After checking brake fluid in the reservoir at half the range between maximum and minimum levels decide whether to drain excess fluid using a brake fluid extractor. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel unit. Push the soft brake caliper pistons back with a strong c-clamp pressed onto the caliper from above until the caliper can slide off the brake rotor. First disconnect the lower mounting bolt from the guide pin and push the brake caliper upwards as you remove the two brake pads and drop the clips from the mounting bracket. Wipe out all foreign particles from the brake caliper using denatured alcohol. Use fresh Brake Pad retaining clips during installation by placing them on the brake caliper mounting bracket. Also avoid damaging spreader springs as you position both brake pads. Place the brake caliper in its bottom position and secure it using the lower guide pin bolt which needs to be tightened to 64 n.m (47 lb ft). Replace your tire and wheel system after lowering the vehicle. Also top up the brake master cylinder. Press the brake pedal gently but firmly until the brake pads touch metal parts. After that wear down both new pads to their working surface.
