    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake pads on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on the pads check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir; keep the fluid at midpoint when it is between maximum and minimum marked levels otherwise use a brake extractor tool to adjust fluid down to midpoint. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel unit from the vehicle. Push the brake caliper pistons forward using a large c-clamp placed over the brake caliper top until it slips off the rotor when the caliper is tightened against the Brake Pad's back face. Using a socket wrench remove the upper brake caliper bolt afterward push the brake caliper downward and take off the brake pads with retaining clips first from the mounting bracket and secondly from the brake caliper connection. Use clean filtered air from a non-lubricated air source to dry and brush denatured alcohol from the brake caliper mounting bracket. During Brake Pad replacement adhere to new Brake Pad retaining clips once the brake caliper mounting bracket is set. Then continue with Brake Pad installation and position the retaining clip correctly within the brake caliper. Insert the brake caliper clip before positioning the rear brake caliper above its normal place. Install the top brake caliper bolt and tighten it to 31 n.m pressure. Replace the wheel unit and stay below the vehicle while topping off the brake master cylinder storage. Press the Brake Pedal steadily until the Brake Pad meets its seat while also creating a smooth surface on the new pad.
