• Q: How to replace the front brake pads on 2006 Buick Rainier?

  A: Before replacing the front brake pads check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. If the fluid sits between the minimum allowed mark and maximum capacity line you should not remove fluid. To lower the fluid level above minimum use a suitable tool to vent brake fluid until the level reaches midway between the lines. Place the vehicle on jack stands and take off its wheel assembly consisting of tire and wheel. Use a large c-clamp on top of the brake caliper housing against the rotor backing plate to push brake pistons inward until you can put the brake caliper off the rotor surface before taking away the c-clamp. Loosen the guide pin bolt at the bottom then move the brake caliper upwards until it reaches its limit.
