2005 Buick Rainier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake pads on 2005 Buick Rainier?
A: The brake fluid level check comes first. Use normal brake fluid drainage tools (Tool Required) to lower the fluid if the brake master cylinder reservoir shows fluid over the maximum level between minimum and maximum settings. Lift up the vehicle and take off both wheel and tire units. Push back the brake-caliper piston through a big c-clamp placement on its top surface which fits over the brake-housing against the brake-pad back until the piston moves enough for the brake-caliper to slide off the rotor. Then remove the c-clamp. Move the brake caliper up until it cannot proceed further by removing the lower guide pin mounting bolt. First uninstall the brake pads then their clips from both brake caliper mounting and brake caliper locations. Use denatured alcohol to clean all foreign elements from the brake caliper. For new Brake Pad installation always replace retaining clips. Secure each Brake Pad to its designated position in the brake caliper using fresh Brake Pad retaining clips from the hardware kit. Secure the inboard and outboard brake pads before moving the brake caliper down into its right place. Fasten the lower guide pin bolt of the brake caliper at a torque setting of 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). Put the tire and wheel parts back in place and return the car to its ground level before putting brake fluid into the service compartment. Press the brake pedal gradually and forcefully until brake pads settle in their correct position and create a smooth surface on the pads.
