2004 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on 2004 Buick Regal?
A: A replacement procedure of the right Exhaust Manifold starts by removing the cross vehicle brace and fuel injector sight shield before unfastening exhaust crossover heat shield nuts and removing both shielding components. The exhaust crossover pipe bolts should be detached from the right Exhaust Manifold while the vehicle gets raised. Start the procedure by removing both Exhaust Manifold pipe stud nuts and catalytic converter pipe before moving onto the egr valve inlet adapter pipe bolt. Lower the automobile while rotating the power unit to reach the right-hand side. Begin by disconnecting the electrical connector of the heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor from its engine sight shield bracket position and perform the extraction of right side spark plugs from cylinders 2, 4, and 6. Untuck the right engine lift bracket bolt after removing its nut then remove the bracket. This is followed by removing the fuel injector sight shield bracket nuts then the bracket. Start by unbolting and unbolt the right Exhaust Manifold before you remove it and the gasket together with the upper and lower right Exhaust Manifold heat shields. Replace the manifold only after removing both the ho2s sensor which was inside along with any cracked Exhaust Manifold studs. Thorough cleaning should precede an inspection of the right Exhaust Manifold before its installation. The Exhaust Manifold studs should be installed first followed by attaching the heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor if required to the right Exhaust Manifold. Begin installation by initially setting the right Exhaust Manifold heat shields on both upper and lower positions then apply the new manifold gasket before placing the right Exhaust Manifold. Tighten all right Exhaust Manifold bolts and nuts to 30 nm while installing the fuel injector sight shield bracket and tightening its nuts to 30 nm. The right engine lift bracket needs reinstallation with bolt and nut retention set at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Next, right side spark plugs must be installed. After setting the heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor electrical connector at the engine sight shield bracket you should connect the sensor. After the engine reaches its original position you must raise the vehicle before installing the egr valve inlet adapter pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold using a torque of 29 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Secure the right Exhaust Manifold with catalytic converter pipe through its stud nuts while tightening them at 35 nm torque (26 ft. Lbs.). Install the exhaust crossover bolts to the right Exhaust Manifold first before tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Then proceed with attaching and tightening the exhaust crossover heat shield using nuts and applying torque to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Fitte together the engine mount struts and fuel injector sight shield and cross vehicle brace.
