  A: Begin the valve lifter replacement process by taking off the left or right valve Rocker Arm cover and then removing the lower Intake Manifold while preserving the valve train parts for correct reinstallment at their original positions using identical mating surfaces. First remove the Rocker Arm bolts and the valve rocker arms along with push rods and push rod guide plates and then separate the valve lifter guide bolts and valve lifter guides and finally extract the valve lifters. All valve train parts need cleaning before inspecting the valve lifters and cam lobe wear. The valve lifters should be soaked in prelube gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) equivalent before installation at their original positions. Screw the valve lifter guides into place then add valve lifter guide bolts that demand a torque of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). After finishing with the lower Intake Manifold and left or right valve Rocker Arm cover, complete the installation by putting back the push rod guide plates and push rods and valve rocker arms with their bolts.
