2004 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on 2004 Buick Regal?
A: The first step to replace the power steering pressure hose requires placing a drain pan underneath the vehicle and then removing the accessory Drive Belt. Begin by supporting the vehicle and then removing both tire and wheel assembly. The power steering pressure hose should be detached from both the power steering gear at its lower section as well as from the Power Steering Pump followed by removing clamps on the power steering gear until the hose can be extracted from the vehicle. To install the new power steering pressure hose start by connecting it first to the vehicle and clamping it to power steering gear fittings then route it to the Power Steering Pump for attachment. Secure the hose fittings with torque to 27 n.m (20 lb ft) before connecting both ends of the hose to the power steering gear and the pressure hose fitting to this torque setting. First replace the tire and wheel and then discard the drain pan afterward lowering the vehicle while putting the accessory Drive Belt back in place. The system requires power steering fluid for filling before performing a bleed procedure and conducting leak inspections.
