The first step to replace the rear outside door handle includes wrapping the handle with tape for paint protection. Installing the outside door handles requires adjusting handle-to-lock rods until every separation between handle and lock disappears. First remove the trim panel after taking out the water deflector. First disconnect the rod between handle and lock of the outside door before using a center punch to pierce the rivet centers then drill them out from the outside door handle with a 6.35-mm (1/4-in) drill bit. Start by taking away the rear door outside handle and door handle rod then mount the alternative outside door handle onto the rod before setting it into the rear door position. Safely fasten the outside door handle with new rivets before connecting the outside door handle rod-to-lock. After reinstalling the water deflector and trim panel one should remove tape that surrounded the handle.
