How to replace the left catalytic converter (LA3, LY9) on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

The first step to replace the left Catalytic Converter (LA3, LY9) starts by properly raising and sustaining the vehicle. Let the heated Oxygen Sensor hang loose from its sensor pigtail before removal when a replacement is required. Unsecure the nuts that connect the Exhaust Pipe to both left and right catalytic converters. Move the exhaust system far enough back so the studs at the Catalytic Converter's rear edge can pass through the Exhaust Pipe flange while the exhaust system rests on the floor panel tunnel brace. Separate the left side Catalytic Converter seal and right side Catalytic Converter Gasket from the system because they will get replaced. Start by taking out the 2 nuts securing the Catalytic Converter to both the hanger bracket and Exhaust Manifold before removing the Catalytic Converter together with its built-in seal that will not be used again. During installation put in a brand new seal into the Catalytic Converter's seal groove before mounting it to both the Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter hanger bracket. Fasten the 3 Exhaust Manifold nuts to the Catalytic Converter using 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs. Torque) then fasten the 2 Catalytic Converter hanger bracket nuts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs. Torque). Install a new seal on the left side Catalytic Converter flange while placing a new gasket over the right side Catalytic Converter studs. Position the Exhaust Pipe flanges facing the studs on the Catalytic Converter backside before screwing on the 2 nuts to connect the Exhaust Pipe to the left converter. Tighten these nuts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs. Of torque). Screw down and tighten both Exhaust Pipe nuts connecting to the right Catalytic Converter until torque reaches 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). The heated Oxygen Sensor needs installation at its sensor pigtail before putting the vehicle back on the ground.
