2004 Cadillac DeVille Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?
A: The first step to replace the Fuel Rail assembly requires reducing fuel system pressure. Use gm x-30a engine cleaner with spray application to clean the Fuel Rail assembly according to the package labels yet avoid soaking it within liquid solvents. The first task consists of removing the fuel feed and return pipes (2, 3) together with the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) air tube and PCV Valve from the cam cover. Pull out the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut before separating Fuel Injector electrical connectors from each Fuel Injector. The harness should be placed aside. The engine wiring harness must first exit the Fuel Rail studs before moving onto the Fuel Rail attaching studs and finally removing the Fuel Rail alone. Discard the injector lower o-ring seals which exist at the spray tip end of each injector propulsion unit. Removal of the fuel injectors together with the Fuel Pressure Regulator becomes necessary during Fuel Rail replacement. Application includes installing the Fuel Pressure Regulator followed by the fuel injectors while applying engine oil to the new lower injector o-ring seals before attachment. First install new o-ring seals to the spray tip end of each injector before installing the Fuel Rail with Fuel Rail attaching studs which must be tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Fasten the Fuel Injector electrical connectors to each Fuel Injector before tightening the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Proceed with installing the PCV Valve to the cam cover and to the coolant surge tank inlet pipe alongside the pcv air tube. Complete the connection of the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose with the fuel feed and return pipes to the Fuel Rail followed by battery cable reconnect and test for fuel leaks by sequentially operating ignition on then off for 2 seconds and 10 seconds before powering on and examining for leaks. Completion of the installation involves fitting the Fuel Injector sight shield.
