  A: The first step for Fuel Pressure Regulator replacement demands relief of fuel pressure by servicing quick connect fitting(s) (Metal Collar). First clear all dirt from the Fuel Pressure Regulator followed by vacuum line detachment. Use a shop towel to salvage fuel drips during removal of the Fuel Pressure Regulator by first disconnecting its retainer clip then lifting and twisting the unit from the Fuel Rail position. Next you should take out the lower o-ring followed by the regulator assembly filter and the upper o-ring and the back up ring. You should cover the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing because this step will block foreign objects from getting into the fuel system. Installation of new regulators should begin with fresh o-rings which need light lubrication using engine oil.
