Begin replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator by first draining pressure from the fuel system then wiping off all dirt from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. You will need to disconnect the vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Regulator before removing its retainer clip. When detaching the Fuel Pressure Regulator from the Fuel Rail you should lift and twist it using a shop towel to absorb any leaking fuel. Start by taking the regulator assembly filter then proceeding to remove the regulator seal lower o-ring followed by the regulator seal upper o-ring before ending with the regulator seal back up ring. Protect the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing with proper cover material to stop foreign matter from entering the fuel system. New o-rings should be placed onto the Fuel Pressure Regulator before installation and they need to be applied with a small amount of clean engine oil. Mount the back up ring together with the upper o-ring and filter and lower o-ring before applying the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer clip . You should connect the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum line along with the negative Battery Cable. Turn on the ignition while the engine remains off for 2 seconds before turning off the ignition for 10 seconds and re-turning on the ignition to check for fuel leaks.
