2004 Cadillac Seville Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the left exhaust manifold on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: The replacement process starts by removing the two Exhaust Manifold securing nuts from the secondary air tube followed by detaching the tube and gasket which needs replacement. Accessibility to the engine compartment requires two steps: first remove the front Engine Mount Bracket and then raise the vehicle. The technician can proceed to remove the Oxygen Sensor when needed. Unfasten the 2 bolts holding together the front Exhaust Manifold pipe with the left Exhaust Manifold before removing the left Exhaust Manifold retaining bolts. The left Exhaust Manifold with its gasket should be carefully removed while avoiding reuse of the gasket then the front Exhaust Manifold pipe seal needs to be taken out of the left Exhaust Manifold yet should not be reused. The technician should clean and inspect the left Exhaust Manifold before proceeding to remove its Exhaust Manifold flange seal retainer. First position a new front Exhaust Manifold pipe seal along with its retainer on top of the left Exhaust Manifold before setting the new Exhaust Manifold gasket between the left Cylinder Head and Exhaust Manifold. Secure the left Exhaust Manifold into the front Exhaust Manifold pipe until it reaches the left Cylinder Head position then install the left Exhaust Manifold bolts by tightening them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Install the 2 bolts which connect the left Exhaust Manifold to the front Exhaust Manifold pipe and fasten them properly to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Place back the Oxygen Sensor along with the front Engine Mount Bracket and complete the process by lowering the vehicle. Apply a new gasket to the secondary air tube before connecting the tube to the Exhaust Manifold through its 2 nuts while torquing them to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.).
