2004 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on 2004 Cadillac SRX?
A: Just to replace Tire Pressure Sensor, first lift the vehicle on a suitable support. Lift the car on to ramps (or jack) up for adequate tire clearance. It is very essential to lift the vehicle up on to ramps or using a jack in case brakes need to be applied to prevent the rear portion of the vehicle from going down. Be aware that when you lift the car while taking the rear tire off, if you still have the tire of the front vehicle remain face up, and pull out the spare tire to examine the face side as well as the side that faces you (the vehicle side). If a tire boot or tire trough is already damaged, replace the tire as well as lug nuts by using the torque Before removing the tire from the wheel, lay the cap and valve of the sensor on a clean and dry surface; the cap is made of aluminum material whose valve is nickel plated so that it does not corrode and cannot be replaced or substituted with another material. When breaking tire bead away from the wheel, place the bead-breaking fixture 90 degrees to valve stem and position the mounting/dismounting head allowing tire iron or pry bar to be inserted slightly clockwise of sensor body when prying tire bead up and over mounting/dismounting head. Use tire machine, rotate the tire/wheel assembly in an anti-clockwise direction when moving the tire bead to within the rim of the wheel. Repeat steps again from the inner bead before opening the tire from the wheel. If any tire sealant is observed during the tire demounting process, all the leftover liquid sealant should be removed from the inner surface of the tire as well as wheel surfaces. However, the tire pressure sensor nut and tire pressure sensor need to be removed. For installation, wipe out any dirt or debris from grommet sealing area and by inserting the sensor into the wheel in such a way that the air passage is removed from the wheel, installing the sensor nut while keeping the sensor body parallel to the inside wheel surface with the sensor nut being tightened in to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) respectively. Place the mounting/dismounting head 180 degrees away from the valve stem and the bead transition 45 degrees counterclockwise of the valve stem before installing the tire on the wheel. From the tire machine, rotating the tire/wheel assembly clockwise in the process of moving the tire bead inside the wheel rim and repeat the same process for the outer bead before installing the tire on the wheel. A service replacement tire pressure sensor is shipped in OFF, so the unique identification code of the sensor is not learned into the memory of antenna module. to remove the sensor out of OFF, spin the tire/wheel assembly at a speed of more than 32 km/h with a speed of at least 10 seconds to close the roll switch of the sensor. Lastly, mount the tire/wheel assembly on the vehicle, lower it, and learn the tire pressure sensors.
