The first step to replace the upper front door striker requires you to remove the rear side door upper latch striker cover using a flat-bladed tool to release retainers from the roof panel. Secondly you need to extract the bolts which bind the striker to the roof panel before removing the striker together with its attached shims from the panel. When installing the striker you need to return it to the roof panel together with the shim(s) while adhering to the Fastener Notice guidance mentioned in Service Precautions. Secure bolts to the roof panel mounting of the striker before adjusting its position by tightening down the bolts until it reaches a proper fit while self-aligning the striker and performing door fit checks. The number of shims can be adjusted up to 3 items before you tighten the striker bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Finish this operation by adding the upper door latch striker cover.
