  • Q: How to service the Ignition Control Module on 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Before servicing the Ignition Control Module it is essential to disable the ignition system. Begin by removing the accelerator cable followed by the accelerator cable bracket bolt and then the bracket itself. To access the icm module users should disconnect the icm harness connector followed by removing the icm retaining screws which enables removal of the module from the ignition coil housing. Place the Ignition Control Module back into the ignition coil housing while aligning the interconnect and seal before fastening it with icm retaining screws adjusted to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Set the icm harness connector before reinstalling the accelerator cable bracket followed by tight attachment of its bracket bolt using a 10 n.m (18 lb in) torque. Connect the accelerator cable to its bracket as the last step.
