2004 Chevrolet Classic Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2004 Chevrolet Classic?
A: The first step to replace the vacuum Brake Booster involves removing the underhood electrical center from its bracket and putting it aside. Disconnect the master cylinder from the hydraulic Brake Booster by keeping the insulator in position between the booster and dash. Take the entire vacuum booster assembly by disconnecting both the vacuum hose and check valve before removing the left insulation panel. Gently move your vacuum Brake Booster while working the pushrod out of its Brake Pedal clevis without putting heavy pressure on it. Pull out the booster unit from the automobile. Put the booster into position and place the booster pushrod on the Brake Pedal. Tilt the booster gently to align the pushrod before assembling without using strong side pressure. Fasten the booster holding nuts until they reach 27nm or 20 ft pounds using a torque wrench. Put the left closeout/insulator panel back and attach both hose ends to the booster unit together. Then put the master cylinder on and fasten it to the booster. Lastly install the underhood electrical center bracket before returning everything to its place.
