  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2004 Chevrolet Classic?
A: To replace the Brake Master Cylinder first disconnect the electrical connector at the Brake Fluid Level Sensor and remove the brake pipes (3, 4) from master cylinder making sure you install a rubber cap or plug on the exposed end of brake pipe fitting so as to avoid loss and contamination of brake fluid. Once the open ends of the brake pipes are plugged, the master cylinder mounting nuts must be removed and the master cylinder should be taken out from the vehicle. Next bench bleed the new master cylinder and install to the vacuum Brake Booster and secure using the master cylinder mounting nuts, tighten to 27 (20 ft. Lbs.). Reattach brake pipes (3, 4) back to the master cylinder and tighten it up to a 23 nm or 17 ft. Lbs of torque, and then connect the electrical connector on the Brake Fluid Level Sensor, and lastly bleed the brake.
