2004 Chevrolet Colorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: First lock out the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 electrical connector between the engine wiring harness connector and camshaft cover. The heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B) helps disconnect the ho2s from its Exhaust Manifold position. Using special anti-seize compound (P/N 5613695) is essential for the threads of new ho2s components because the compound contains graphite suspended in fluid and glass beads that enable easier future removal. Apply special anti-seize compound (P/N 5613695) to new Oxygen Sensor threads before reinstallation when reusing the same component. Before fitting the ho2s into the Exhaust Manifold use the heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B) to apply 42 n.m (31 lb ft) of torque. Connect the ho2s electrical connector to both the engine wiring harness electrical connector and the camshaft cover. Perform an ho2s resistance learned value reset with a scan tool to avoid an ho2s system failure.
