2004 Chevrolet Colorado Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Primarily, to replace the Knock Sensor (KS), first, lift and support the vehicle to the height where you can access the KS through the wheelhouse, and remove the left wheelhouse liner. Pull off engine wiring harness electrical connector from KS and remove KS retaining bolt and then take out KS from engine block. For installation, make sure to install back the KS and the retaining bolt on to the engine block with the electrical terminals at the rear; tightening the knock sensor (KS) bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Next, reconnect the engine wiring harness electrical hookup to the KS and re- install the left wheelhouse liner and finally lower the vehicle.
