2004 Chevrolet Corvette Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Starting the cylinder replacement process requires negative Battery Cable disconnection. Start by removing the left i/p lower insulator panel followed by taking out the clutch master cylinder rod retainer and rod from the clutch pedal. Support the vehicle properly and lift it into the desired height. Pull the clutch actuator cylinder hose from its retaining clip that sits at the engine's rear end. Through the use of a hydraulic clutch line separator (J 36221) you must push down the white circular release ring on the actuator hose when you pull gently on the master cylinder hose until both components separate safely while keeping their ends from contact with dirt or damage. The driveline support assembly and transaxle must be removed from the vehicle as the first step before the clutch actuator cylinder mounting bolts are removed to extract the clutch actuator cylinder from the driveline support assembly. Place the clutch actuator cylinder onto the driveline support assembly followed by the installation of actuator cylinder mounting bolts which need to be tightened to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). After returning the transaxle along with driveline support assembly to the vehicle you need to join the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the clutch master cylinder hose making sure both quick connectors are firmly clamped while checking for proper hose alignment without kinks. Verify the hydraulic hoses remain free of twists followed by installing the clutch actuator cylinder hose into its hose retaining clip at the engine's rear section. Fits the clutch master cylinder rod back into the clutch pedal before tightening it down with the clutch master cylinder rod retainer. Reinstall the left i/p lower insulator panel while connecting the negative Battery Cable through a 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) bolt torque. Program the transmitters after bleeding the clutch hydraulic system.
