2004 Chevrolet Corvette Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Draining the cooling system must occur before removing the surge tank nuts and side nut. First remove the surge tank hose from its clamp at the tank inlet followed by removing the hose itself. Secondly the technician screws down and removes the surge tank outlet hose clamp followed by unclamping the outlet hose. Before removing the surge tank proceed to relocate the heater outlet hose clamp then remove the heater outlet hose from the surge tank. Clean coolant should be used for lubricating the hoses before you install the surge tank followed by the heater outlet hose. Finally, replace and secure the heater outlet hose clamp. Begin the installation by putting in the surge tank inlet hose then moving the clamp into position followed by setup of the surge tank outlet hose along with its clamp. Check that the front stud extends entirely into the slot before installing the surge tank to its mounting studs. Start by lubricating the surge tank upper nuts before you apply the following tightening sequence: lower first, then top rear and finally top front. Make sure to tighten all three radiator surge tank nuts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) while starting from the bottom and moving to the rear and front top positions. Finally, fill the cooling system.
