2005 Chevrolet Corvette Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a coolant reservoir safely and effectively on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Safety precautions start with waiting for the engine to cool before touching radiator or Coolant Reservoir caps because hot conditions could lead to dangerous steam and hot fluid discharge. Drain all fluids from the cooling system first. The j38185 hose clamp pliers (J38185) helps users remove tension from the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose clamp. After that disconnect the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose from the Coolant Reservoir itself. First use the j38185 hose clamp pliers to free the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp tension before separating the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose. First remove the protective cap from the Coolant Reservoir upper stud and unscrew the upper Coolant Reservoir nut and side nut to detach the Coolant Reservoir. Prior to Coolant Reservoir installation, apply clean coolant to the inside diameters of the hoses before reattaching them to the tank. Screw on the upper Coolant Reservoir nut before you fasten all nuts to 8 nm torque and put back the protective cap on this stud. Start by connecting the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose to the Coolant Reservoir before clamping it with tension. Following that connect the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose and apply tension on its clamp. Finally, fill the cooling system.
