2006 Chevrolet Corvette Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Replace the surge tank by letting the engine cool down first since it protects against scalding fluid and steam when removing the Radiator Cap or surge tank cap. The cooling system requires draining first. Start by releasing clamp tension from surge tank inlet hose before removing the inlet hose from its connected position to the tank. Use the j 38185 hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to lose tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp before disconnecting the outlet hose from the surge tank. Start by removing the surge tank upper stud protective cap followed by taking off the upper nut while you loosen the side nut to extract the surge tank. Clean coolant must first lubricate all inside hose diameters before surge tank installation. Tighten all nuts to a torque of 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) after installing the upper surge tank nut. After installing the protective cap on the surge tank upper stud the outlet hose should be connected to the surge tank followed by tightening the outlet hose clamp. After connecting the inlet hose to the surge tank proceed to apply tension to the inlet hose clamp while you fill the cooling system.
