2004 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Recovering the refrigerant should be the first step before proceeding with the condenser replacement. After removing the Radiator and the a/c line coupling between the condenser tube and the receiver dehydrator tube continue with removing the a/c compressor line nut from the condenser piece. Boxfit the a/c compressor line while it is removed. Pull the condenser out of the vehicle and throw away its o-ring seals along with the seal washer. Before adding a new condenser unit you must pour refrigerant oil into it. Reinstall the condenser followed by its installation of new seal washer to the a/c compressor hose and new o-ring seals to the receiver dehydrator tube. Join the receiver dehydrator tube to the condenser and at the same time connecting the a/c line coupling between both units. Screw the a/c compressor hose to the condenser and tighten its block fitting nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The repair process concludes with Radiator installation followed by a/c system evacuation and recharging then leak testing the fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
