2004 Chevrolet Impala Fan Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Electric Cooling Fan Motor on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Salvaging safety begins with removing the negative Battery Cable before changing an electric cooling Fan Motor. The technician should perform the task using j 38185 hose clamp pliers to extract the right and left engine mount struts followed by the air cleaner assembly removal step. The transmission oil cooler lines need removal from their retainer clip position at the cooling Fan Shroud base while safety disconnects the negative Battery Cable. The next step involves removing the Fan Shroud to condenser bracket bolt before detachment of radiator support brackets connected to Fan Shroud via bolts. The electrical connector of the engine cooling Fan Motor needs to be disconnected before the cooling fan's electrical harness must be taken off from Fan Shroud clips followed by Fan Shroud removal with the engine cooling fan heat shield too. Take the engine cooling Fan Blade nut and engine cooling Fan Blade while checking for damage to the blades that require replacement. You must remove the Fan Motor bolts while extracting the engine cooling Fan Motor from its Fan Shroud position. Position the engine cooling Fan Motor inside the Fan Shroud then fasten it with motor bolts which need tightening to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The engine cooling Fan Blade requires installation of its nut while tightening to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) before progressing to the heat shield assembly. Install the cooling Fan Shroud after its bottom edge locks into place beneath the radiator clips then fasten its bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). You should reinstall the engine cooling fan electrical harness onto the Fan Shroud clips before you establish an electrical connection between the engine cooling Fan Motor's electrical connector. Begin with tightening the Fan Shroud to condenser hold down bracket bolt to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) then perform the same tightening on radiator upper support brackets to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). To complete the procedure install both transmission oil cooler lines to their positions at the retainer clip beneath the cooling Fan Shroud and above the air cleaner assembly next to the right and left engine mount struts followed by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable then verifying correct functionality.
