Valve Rocker Arm covers and bolts must be first removed from the motor. The parts should rest upon a clean surface before being stored in the correct sequence for reassembly. Initial steps include removing valve rocker arms together with the valve Rocker Arm guide plate when all arms are being extracted followed by taking out push rods. The push rods along with valve rocker arms and guide plates need cleaning in a proper solution. You must eliminate all thread adhesive from valve Rocker Arm bolts during the cleaning process. Compressed air must remove all oil from the Cylinder Head tapped holes before new engine oil coats the push rod ends which should then return to their original positions. Fasten the valve rocker arms together with gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) threadlocker or equivalent to the Rocker Arm bolt threads while installing the valve Rocker Arm guide plates. Screw in the Rocker Arm bolts before tightening to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) and execute the torque angle meter (J 45059) procedure for an extra 90-degree bolt rotation. To finish the valve train installation you should install the valve Rocker Arm covers before conducting a noise inspection on this system.
