2004 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the multifunction turn signal switch on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Begin switching the turn signal switch by disabling the SIR system then taking off the top and bottom trim panels. Do not forget to return the abrasion sleeve to its correct position on the steering column wire harness assembly and keep track of the connector placement for later installation. Then unplug the wire harness strap from its mount and free the turn signal switch connector from the SIR system coil socket. Take the two turn signal connectors apart from the bulkhead connector then remove the two pan head tapping screws that attach the assembly to the steering column tilt head. Put the turn signal switch assembly in place on the steering column tilt head assembly so that electrical contact touches the cancel cam turn signal assembly. Insert the two screws at points and to fix the assembly. Tighten top screw to 3 Nm (27 in. lbs.) while side screw reaches 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.). Slide the two connectors into the bulkhead connector and join the turn signal switch connector to the SIR coil connector while positioning the abrasion sleeve correctly with ignition lock cylinder case wires. And complete the job by easing the wire harness back into its holder at the wire strap. Secure the trim panels then enable SIR system operation.
