Chevrolet Impala Turn Signal Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Turn Signal Switch on Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before you replace the Turn Signal Switch you must turn off the SIR system. Reinstall the abrasion sleeve into the steering column wire harness assembly before covering it with the trim parts and making note of the connector placement. First disconnect the wire harness assembly from its strap and then separate the turn signal switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil connector. Push both connectors of the turn signal switch unit out from the bulkhead connection. Use a socket wrench to remove two head screws from behind the turn signal switch and lift off the complete unit from the steering column tilt head assembly. Set the turn signal switch assembly onto the steering column tilt head assembly to make sure its electrical contact touches the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Endeavor to fix the parts securely by threading both pan head screws at 1 N.m torque into the parts. Push the two connectors into the bulkhead connector and join the turn signal switch assembly's connector to SIR coil connector. Place the abrasion sleeve back onto the steering column wire harness assembly with attention to placing the ignition lock cylinder case wiring and connector properly. The upper and lower trim pieces need to be installed before placing the wire harness back in and turning on the SIR function.
