2006 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the multifunction turn signal switch on 2006 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before you start changing the turn signal switch you need to follow official steps to deactivate SIR system functions. When removing the upper and lower trim parts disconnect the steering column wire harness assembly connector that comes through the abrasion sleeve for easy reassembly later. End the wire harness connection to its strap and remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly from the SIR system coil connector. Pull the two connectors of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly through the bulkhead connector. Unscrew the two pan head taps and insert the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly from its position in the steering column tilt head. Place the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly on the steering column tilt head assembly so its electrical contact touches the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Fasten the assembly with its two pan head screws while tightening them to 1 Nm (11 inch lbs.). Push each connector through the bulkhead connector and join the signaling switch connector to the SIR coil power source. Secure the abrasion sleeve over the steering column wire harness assembly with proper positioning of ignition lock case wires and connector. Put the wire harness assembly back in position through the wire harness strap then replace upper and lower trim panels before activating the SIR system.
