2004 Chevrolet SSR Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: The first step in changing the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve requires removal of the engine sight shield. Users need to both push in the EVAP pipe quick connect fitting retainer and break the standard connection of the EVAP pipe to the EVAP purge solenoid. First disconnect the electrical connector for the EVAP purge solenoid and then remove the EVAP purge solenoid mount bolt . Remove the EVAP purge solenoid from the engine while also removing the insulator. First install the insulator onto the EVAP canister purge valve and then mount the valve onto its engine location. Fasten the EVAP canister purge valve mount bolt with a torque of 10.5 N.m (93 lb in). The EVAP pipe needs to hook up to the EVAP canister purge valve which requires an electrical connector installation afterwards. Install the engine sight shield as the final step.
