2004 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Before beginning coolant reservoir replacement start by draining the cooling system then remove the front bolt securing the reservoir. Use the Hose Clamp Plier (J 38185) to free the coolant reservoir inlet hose clamp tension before disconnecting the coolant reservoir inlet hose from its tank. The Hose Clamp Plier (J 38185) helps with disengaging tension from the coolant reservoir outlet hose clamp before the outlet hose can be detached from the coolant reservoir. After using the Hose Clamp Plier (J 38185) you can disconnect the throttle body coolant hose which is attached to the coolant reservoir. Pull on the coolant reservoir's back end to detach it from the rear bracket and remove the coolant reservoir. Before inserting the coolant reservoir into its rear mounting bracket staff must apply clean coolant lubrication to both internal diameters of the hoses. Bend the coolant reservoir outlet hose towards the coolant reservoir before tightening its clamp with tension. Place the coolant reservoir inlet hose and tighten the coolant reservoir inlet hose clamp. Attach the throttle body coolant hose to the coolant reservoir while tightening its clamp. Bind and tighten the front coolant reservoir bolt at the mounting bracket while maintaining 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) torque. Finally, fill the cooling system.
