Coolant Reservoir is one of the crucial parts of the cooling system of Chevrolet SSR vehicles and is famous for its sturdiness and efficiency. This Coolant Reservoir also controls what is known as the overflow or the excess of coolant fluid in the system since its bad manners could introduce air or cause massive spillage that damages engine temperature control. Suitable for most of the Chevrolet SSR models including the models with production year 2003-2006, Coolant Reservoir also has both pressurized as well as non-pressurized options which provides variable performance. While the pressurized type contains a metal cap capable of achieving and preserving the right pressure for the SSR, the non-pressurized, appears to depend on gravity to help in improving the efficiency as well as safety of the Chevrolet SSR. Out of the recommended maintenance checks, it is key to examine the Coolant Reservoir often to check for any crack or leakage to enhance the efficiency of the vehicle. The Chevrolet SSR itself may be described as a stylish pickup truck with elements of sport utility vehicle due to the provisions of the retractable hardtop along with rather powerful engine lineup that include the 5.3L Vortec and enhanced 6.0L LS2 V8. Thus, the Coolant Reservoir is one of the elements that can considerably contribute to the functioning of these robust engines and the general performance of the Chevrolet SSR. Also, the Coolant Reservoir has graduations so that the coolant amount can be easily read; it is easy to use. The construction of the Coolant Reservoir is strong and carefully planned; thus, it provides the Chevrolet SSR with the master stroke it deserves in the automotive market.

Chevrolet SSR Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet SSR?
    A:
To replace the Coolant Reservoir, first make sure the engine is not hot or warm so as not to incur burns of scalding fluid and steam when un-premising the Radiator Cap or Coolant Reservoir cap. It is essential to start by draining the cooling system. Take off the Coolant Reservoir front bolt at front mounting bracket, then turn off tension on the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose clamp by using the hose clamppliers (J38185) and then releasing the inlet hose from the Coolant Reservoir. Do this for the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp and throttle body coolant hose clamp, removing both hoses as you unclamp the hoses. Pull up the rear of the Coolant Reservoir to detach it from the rear mounting bracket. For installation, clean coolant should be used to lubricate the inside diameters of hoses, and the Coolant Reservoir should be assembled into rear mounting bracket. Connect the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose with tension applied to the outlet of the hose clamp, followed by connecting the inlet hose with the tension applied to its clamp. Join the throttle body coolant hose and tighten the tension on its clamp. Mount the front Coolant Reservoir bolt to the mounting bracket, tightening it firmly to 9 nm (80 inch lbs) and finally fill up the cooling system.
