Chevrolet SSR Coolant Pipe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Coolant Pipe for the surge tank hose replacement at the inlet on Chevrolet SSR?
A: Before servicing the Coolant Reservoir for surge tank hose/pipe replacement at the inlet workers need to drain the entire cooling system first. Attach hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to release tension then reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp positioned on the surge tank. Before you disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the Radiator you must remove pressure from the clamp while repositioning it at both the surge tank and the Radiator. The vehicle requires removal of the surge tank inlet hose assembly. Before adding new hoses to the installation you must apply clean coolant to all inside diameters of the pipe sections. Apply the surge tank inlet hose to its designated position in the surge tank inlet hose tee before tightening a new hose clamp. Install the surge tank inlet hose by connecting it first to the Radiator before you fill the cooling system.
