    Q:
How to service the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start Coolant Reservoir service by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and draining the cooling system before collecting the coolant. First disconnect the low coolant connector and remove the Radiator surge tank bolt before the tank and disconnect each hose and the low coolant switch connector from the surge tank and finally separate the coolant return hose. To install the components you must connect the low coolant switch to the tank before reinstalling the tank on the vehicle. After installing the bolt with a torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.), connect the coolant return hose and the hoses to the Radiator surge tank before finishing with the low coolant connector. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable after filling the Radiator surge tank cooling system and complete leak inspection. Vehicle maintenance requires dex-cool (R) coolant due to prevention of early engine damage and Heater Core and Radiator corrosion. However, adding silicated coolant necessitates changing engine coolant before 50,000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

    Q:
How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by supporting the vehicle while raising it then drain the coolant system before lowering the vehicle. Disconnect the low coolant sensor electrical connector before removing the low coolant sensor electrical harness from its retainer. You should use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp from its position on the Coolant Reservoir before removing the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose. You must use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reposition the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp. The same hose clamp removal step applies for the radiator vent hose using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). First disconnect the Coolant Reservoir mounting bolt then remove the Coolant Reservoir from its position. After positioning the Coolant Reservoir in place install its mounting bolt with a torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reinstall the radiator vent hose on the Coolant Reservoir while getting the hose clamp back into position. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) helps position both the engine vent hose clamp and the radiator vent hose clamp. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to relocate both the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp. Then connect the low coolant sensor electrical connector to its retainer before reconnecting it to the electrical connector and filling the cooling system at the radiator Coolant Reservoir.

    Q:
How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Coolant Reservoir, first make sure the engine is not hot or warm so as not to incur burns of scalding fluid and steam when un-premising the Radiator Cap or Coolant Reservoir cap. It is essential to start by draining the cooling system. Take off the Coolant Reservoir front bolt at front mounting bracket, then turn off tension on the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose clamp by using the hose clamppliers (J38185) and then releasing the inlet hose from the Coolant Reservoir. Do this for the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp and throttle body coolant hose clamp, removing both hoses as you unclamp the hoses. Pull up the rear of the Coolant Reservoir to detach it from the rear mounting bracket. For installation, clean coolant should be used to lubricate the inside diameters of hoses, and the Coolant Reservoir should be assembled into rear mounting bracket. Connect the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose with tension applied to the outlet of the hose clamp, followed by connecting the inlet hose with the tension applied to its clamp. Join the throttle body coolant hose and tighten the tension on its clamp. Mount the front Coolant Reservoir bolt to the mounting bracket, tightening it firmly to 9 nm (80 inch lbs) and finally fill up the cooling system.
