• Q: How to replace the accessory drive belt on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?

  A: The first procedure to replace an accessory Drive Belt requires the air cleaner outlet duct clamp's loosening at the Throttle Body followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the maf sensor before removing the air cleaner housing assembly. A tool made from a breaker bar with a hex-head socket must apply clockwise rotation to the tensioner bolt which enables belt tension release. The Drive Belt should then be removed from the pulleys and tensioner. The tensioning procedure should be done slowly before removing the socket and breaker bar from the Drive Belt tensioner. The installer should then inspect and clean all pulley belt surfaces. Install the Drive Belt by positioning it around every pulley except the idler pulley and set the tension of the belt tensioner bolt by rotating it clockwise using a breaker bar and hex-head socket. Slide the Drive Belt below the position of the idler pulley before gradually loosening the belt tensioner while also taking away the breaker bar and socket. Check that the Drive Belt rests correctly and align properly before reattaching the air cleaner assembly while joining the maf sensor electrical connector. The Throttle Body receives air cleaner outlet duct clamps which should be tightened to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.).
