  Q: How to replace the accessory drive belt on Chevrolet SSR?

  A: The first step for accessory Drive Belt replacement involves loosening the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the Throttle Body while disconnecting the electrical maf sensor connector before you take off the air cleaner housing assembly. A breaker bar with hex-head socket installed on the Drive Belt tensioner bolt should be used to turn the tensioner clockwise until the belt tension is released. At this point remove the belt from pulleys and tensioner before proceeding. Slowly remove the tension from the Drive Belt tensioner before removing the breaker bar together with socket. Maintain visual and clean inspection of the surfaces that form the belts on all pulleys. First install the Drive Belt only on the pulleys except the idler pulley before it includes the breaker bar with the hex-head socket on the tensioner bolt to reduce tension. After placing the belt under the idler pulley install a breaker bar along with its socket to the belt tensioner. Slowly loosen tension and remove both tools from the system. After inspecting and correct positioning of Drive Belt installation you should reinstall the air cleaner assembly followed by connecting the maf sensor's electrical connector. Complete the procedure by fastening air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the Throttle Body at 7 nm (62 inch lbs.).
