How to replace the upper fan shroud (W/M74) on 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500?

The replacement process for the upper Fan Shroud (W/M74) starts by unsticking the air cleaner outlet duct clamps which connect to Throttle Body and mass airflow sensor before removing the air cleaner outlet duct. The a/c line retainer on the Fan Shroud requires detaching before removing the engine harness clip from the pcm cover. Start by removing the tcm cover bolts while taking off the tcm cover from around the Fan Shroud. After disconnecting the tcm electrical connectors by removing their bolts you should remove the tcm along with its cover. You can extract the upper Fan Shroud by dismounting its retainer pieces and bolts first. Install the upper Fan Shroud then fasten its bolts while tightening them to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Placing the tcm electrical connectors in position, reinstall the tcm and cover before tightening the tcm electrical connector bolts to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). Secure the tcm cover onto the Fan Shroud through bolts that need to be tightened to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Reinstall the engine harness clip to the pcm cover and then attach the a/c line retainer to the Fan Shroud followed by reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct. Tighten both screws on the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the Throttle Body alongside the mass airflow sensor until they reach 7 nm torque (62 inch lbs.).
