2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the rear A/C Hose using the J 41425 A/C Line Repair Kit on 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: Service or repair rear air conditioning or heater lines using the J 41425 A/C Line Repair Kit (J 41425) for any conditions like rub-through and collision damage or leakage. Sectioning procedures must retain the specified minimum length on both side of the splice while using Straight Line Repair procedures for straight sections with Line Sectioning Repair procedures for bends to replace line sections in bends and prevent vibrations. Utilize the 3/8 inch breaker bar to secure the tool body while you tighten the forcing screw over the LOK fitting until the connector collars reach their maximum position on the center shoulder. After this step loosen the screw and remove the tool. Start by identifying the damage zone before procuring the replacement tube which needs cut into parts matching the length of the area to repair using tubing cutters. Clean the line ends with the cleaning pad from the J 41425 (J 41425) to remove burrs or grease while maintaining a minimum 0.75 in (19 mm) length clean section. Apply a single drop of J 41425-3 sealing compound (J 41425-3) to each line end and then place the line into a LOK fitting. Place the right LOK fitting jaws into J 41425-1 (J 41425-1) before positioning the tool above LOK connectors until they nest into the screw holes of the jaws. Secure the forcing screw by using a 3/8 inch breaker bar while holding the tool body to make the connector collars settle against the LOK fitting's center shoulder before loosening the screw to remove the tool. Install and verify LOK fittings before lowering the vehicle while also refilling coolant if necessary and performing refrigerant evacuation and recharge if A/C line repairs were conducted.
