A/C Line

Heater and A/C pipe repairs require the usage of the A/C Line Repair Kit (J 41425) for treating all rear A/C and heater line injuries up to sectional repairs instead of complete unit replacements. The splice procedure requires maintaining proper minimum length measurements in both right-angle sections of the lines after performing the cuts. Do a refrigerant recovery if fixing A/C lines and drain coolant when working on heater lines before supporting and raising the vehicle. A tubing cutter should help you cut away the damaged line section before you install the new section to match the original length. After using the cleaning pad from the A/C Line Repair Kit J 41425 to clean line ends, apply LOK prep sealant before putting one drop of sealing compound (J 41425-3) on each end before inserting into the LOK fitting. Place the fitting under rotational motion to spread the sealing compound before inserting correct LOK fitting jaws into the tool (J 41425-1) and placing that tool over the connectors while tightening the forcing screw until the collar stops at maximum clamping range. Work through the same procedure on the opposing line end before checking both LOK fittings installation and bringing the vehicle to the ground while performing coolant replacement or A/C line maintenance. To perform sectioning repairs on lines follow the same process but when repairing multiple lines stagger the splice positions and use the same length for replacement sections.

The first step when replacing the suction hose involves recovering all refrigerant from the system. Begin with suction hose mounting bolt removal from the A/C Compressor to reveal the suction hose. Then detach this hose from both the A/C Compressor and accumulator while loosening the suction hose nut. Finish by extracting the suction hose from both components and pulling the suction hose assembly from the automobile. All existing sealing washers must be discarded while you need to cap the system openings. Start the suction hose installation by connecting it to the accumulator and the vehicle before tightening the suction hose nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Proceed to mount the suction hose on the compressor by attaching it with new sealing washers followed by tightening the suction hose mounting bolt to the A/C Compressor to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The process ends with evacuating and recharging the a/c system followed by performing a leak test on component fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).

The first task for evaporator tube replacement when no RPO code HP2 exists involves withdrawing the refrigerant from the A/C system. Start by removing the evaporator tube nut which is attached to the evaporator before extracting the evaporator tube. Remove the right park/turn signal lamp and the grille as the next step of the operation. Customers should first disassemble the condenser by eliminating the evaporator tube nut and then continue with evaporator tube separation from the condenser and vehicle last. All old sealing washers require disposal and all exposed components need cap installation. New sealing washers enable installation of the evaporator tube onto the condenser before installing the evaporator tube nut onto the condenser and tightening it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Reinstall the grille as well as the right park/turn signal lamp before you connect the evaporator tube to the evaporator by tightening the evaporator tube nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). The Autofill/Halogen Leak Detector unit (J 39400-A) will complete a system leak check on all fitted A/C components before vacuuming and recharging the system.

Any damage in heater and A/C lines requires the A/C Line Repair Kit (J 41425) to make required repairs like rub-through or collision damage or leakage. The first step requires evacuation and charge operations on the A/C system while conducting pressure tests on A/C system joints. Cooling system heater lines need draining before this process begins. Position the vehicle under a support system and search for the affected area. Use a tubing cutter to cut the damaged line while it is necessary to clean at least 19 mm (0.75 in) of A/C line using the cleaning pad from the A/C Line Repair Kit (J 41425). Apply one drop of the sealing compound (J 41425-3) to each line end after preparing the A/C line with LOK prep sealant and install the correct LOK fitting. After insertion of the line ends into the fitting turn it once and check that the connector ends align with the correct placement. You must use tool (J 41425-1) over connectors while employing a 3/8 breaker bar to rotate forcing screw until LOK fitting's center shoulder receives connector collars at its base. Loosen the forcing screw with the tool then remove it before checking the fitting installation. The process requires buying a replacement line, applying section marks to both lines before cutting them, cleaning them with proper sealant, then executing the installation procedure again. After lowering the vehicle you must refill drained coolant before completing necessary leak tests along with A/C system charging.

Refrigerant recovery should be the first step when replacing the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes. You must take both the condenser tube and accumulator tube away from auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes before starting. Loosen the clamp behind the wheelhouse along the right front side to obtain access. After that elevate the vehicle. The installation starts by unscrewing the retaining nut and the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes from the auxiliary hvac module and continuing by removing the heater/a/c tubes retaining nut from the stud at the frame. Detach the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes from the clamps by cutting them loose then extract them from the vehicle. You must install the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes onto the vehicle then lock them to the clamps by following the specific installation procedure. Fasten the heater/a/c tubes retaining nut onto the frame stud while tightening it to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Install the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes (2, 3) and retain them with the required retaining nut on the auxiliary hvac module while tightening to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Lower the vehicle while putting back the right front wheelhouse then join the auxiliary a/c evaporator tubes to the condenser tube and accumulator by tightening nuts to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The last step involves refrigerant recharging and a leak check of the fittings during testing with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).

Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator, install the evaporator tube nut to the evaporator, tightening it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

Install the suction hose to the compressor using new sealing washers.

Finally, evacuate and recharge the system and perform a leak test on the fittings of the components using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).

Remove the right park/turn signal lamp and the grille from the vehicle.

First, recover the refrigerant.

Drain the coolant.

Remove the suction hose mounting bolt from the compressor and disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.

Recover the refrigerant if working on A/C lines and drain the coolant if working on heater lines, then raise and support the vehicle.

Remove the discharge hose mounting bolt from the A/C compressor, followed by the discharge hose from the A/C compressor.

Tighten it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

Clean the line ends with the cleaning pad from the J 41425 to remove burrs or grease, ensuring at least 19 mm (0.75 in) is cleaned.

Remove the auxiliary A/C evaporator tubes from the condenser tube and the accumulator.

Discard all used sealing washers and cap all open connections.

Install the suction hose to the vehicle.

Remove the discharge hose from the vehicle, discarding all used sealing washers and capping the system openings.

Remove the evaporator tube nut from the evaporator and disconnect the evaporator tube from it.

The electrical connector from the A/C recirculation switch.

Remove the tubes from the condenser tube and the accumulator.

Install the evaporator tube to the condenser using new sealing washers, followed by the evaporator tube nut to the condenser, tightening it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
