Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Tube System on GMC Yukon XL 2500?
A: Recovery of the refrigerant becomes the initial task before replacing the evaporator tube. The removal of evaporator tube nut from both the evaporator results in disconnecting the evaporator tube from its position on the evaporator. Disassemble the evaporator tube by removing the evaporator tube nut from both the auxiliary A/C tube when equipped and separating the tube from these fittings. Start by taking off the right park/turn signal lamp together with the grille from the vehicle. The service procedure starts with disconnecting the evaporator tube from the condenser after removing the tube nut followed by evaporator tube removal from the vehicle. The procedure requires users to dispose of all used sealing washers while they need to cap all open connections. Connect the evaporator tube to the condenser while using new sealing washers before installing the evaporator tube nut with a torque of 16 N.m (12 lb ft). After installation of both components replace the grille and right park/turn signal lamp. The evaporator tube installation to auxiliary A/C tube requires new sealing washers followed by torquing the evaporator tube nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator by using the evaporator tube nut then tighten it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Evacuate then recharge the system. Perform a leak test on the components using a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) for inspection of their fittings.
