Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose for Discharge Hose on 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500?
A: Service of the a/c discharge hose/line requires refrigerant recovery as the first step. Start by detaching the discharge hose mounting bolt which is positioned at the A/C Compressor and then disconnect the discharge hose from the compressor. The service starts by taking out the upper radiator baffle followed by removing the discharge hose nut from the condenser until the discharge hose is free of the component. All used sealing washers should be discarded after you disconnect the a/c recirculation switch electrical connector and remove the discharge hose from the vehicle letting air escape through the system openings. To install begin with connecting the vehicle discharge hose then attach the electrical connector to the a/c recirculation switch. Fitting the discharge hose to the condenser requires new sealing washers before screwing the hose nut onto the condenser while tightening it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The upper air baffle installation should be completed before connecting the discharge hose to the A/C Compressor while using new sealing washers and securing the discharge hose mounting bolt with 16 n.m tension (12 lb ft torque). The evacuation and recharging of the a/c system follows along with leak testing component fittings by using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
