2001 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System on 2001 GMC Yukon XL 1500?
A: The first step to replace an a/c discharge hose consists of refrigerant recovery. The A/C Compressor discharge hose requires disconnecting by removing its mounting bolt followed by releasing the hose from the compressor connection. The upper radiator baffle should be removed before unscrewing the discharge hose nut on the condenser and disconnecting the hose from the condenser. All used sealing washers from the system should be discarded before you cap its system openings. The a/c recirculation switch must be disconnected from the A/C Compressor hose followed by removing the discharge hose from your vehicle. Start the installation process by first mounting the new discharge hose on the vehicle before adding the a/c recirculation switch to it. Install new sealing washers on the discharge hose which leads to the condenser before screwing down the nut until it reaches 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The upper baffle installation process requires new sealing washers for connecting the discharge hose to the A/C Compressor before properly tightening the discharge hose mounting bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Refrigerate the a/c system through evacuation before using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) for fitment leak testing.
