2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Beginning the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor replacement process requires users to first shut off their engine and detach the negative battery terminal while being mindful of battery disconnect vulnerabilities. Remove the coolant until it rests below the ect sensor positioning followed by disconnecting its electrical connector. Start this repair by first removing the Drive Belt and generator and then delicately extracting the ect sensor. Industrial thread sealer p/n 12346004 or equivalent should be used during installation whether you choose the original sensor or a new sensor without existing sealant. Tighten the ect sensor to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque during installation. Start by connecting the ect electrical connector followed by generator installation alongside Drive Belt placement and finally reconnecting the negative battery terminal. Brush off the generator along with the Drive Belt before performing the last step of engine coolant refill.
