2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: To remove the Starter motor, unplug the negative cable of the battery and take away the vacuum brake booster hose. Next, remove the battery positive lead from the solenoid and remove the Starter Solenoid s-terminal tip nut, then remove the Starter Solenoid s-terminal tip as well. After that, unscrew the Starter mount bolt and nut (1, 2), and take out the Starter motor. For installation, first, you should install and fix the Starter motor using the Starter motor mount bolt and nut to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Attach the positive cable to the Starter Solenoid with a nut and tighten the nut up to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Then connect the Starter Solenoid s-terminal lead to the solenoid (tightening the nut in 2.3 N.m / 20 lb in). Finally, replace the vacuum brake booster hose and disconnect the battery negative cable.
