    A: To fix the universal joint with its nylon injected ring you need two tools: a U Joint Bearing Separator and a U Joint Bearing Spacer Remover (part numbers J 9522-3 and J 9522-5). Hold the propeller shaft level to start the process and avoid placing the tubings in a vise for prevention of damage. Place a 30 mm socket under the lower yoke ear to mark the correct shaft position before putting it on the socket. Use the U Joint Bearing Separator (J 9522-3) to open the plastic retention ring of the bearing cup before pressing the lower cup out of the yoke ear. Keep pressing the bearing cup out using J 9522-5 while inserting it between the seal and cup if it does not dislodge fully. Shift the propeller shaft to push out the second bearing cup before taking out the cross and all universal joint parts. Search the spaces that hold the bearing cups for damage or foreign objects and clean them if needed. Place a bearing cup into one yoke end first and put the cross in place to see if the trunnion fits without resistance. Pulse the bearing cup until it touches the yoke ear on each side before you checker for matching trunnion position. Examine the needle bearings for improper fit when binding exists. Push the yoke until the bearing retainer space opens then put the retainer in place followed by both retainers using a dead blow hammer as needed for full insertion. Apply chassis grease on the snap ring only when necessary to make it fit properly in the bearing cup area.
