• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2004 GMC Envoy?

  A: In order to change the Starter motor, remove the Intake Manifold first of all. Remove the Starter solenoid s terminal nut and lead from the Starter, followed by Starter terminal nut and the battery positive cable. Next, undo the Starter motor mounting nut and bolt and pull of the Starter motor from the engine. For install, place the Starter motor over the stud and use the Starter motor mounting nut and bolt to fasten the studs (tighten the fasteners to 50 N.m; 37 lb ft). Connect the battery positive cable to the Starter and tighten the Starter terminal nut to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Then connect the lead to Starter solenoid and install Starter solenoid s terminal nut and tighten it to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Finally, reinstall the Intake Manifold.
